Born in Hilo, he was a retired custodian at Pahoa High School, former coach for Hawaiian Beaches Little League, Pahoa High School girls basketball and Pahoa and Hilo high schools’ girls softball. Sumayo “Sue” Nakamura, 93, of Hilo died July 1 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired state Department of Human Services family and children aide, member and senior adviser of Piihonua Kumiai and member of Hawaii Association for Family and Community Education, Hawaii Government Employees Association Retirees Unit and board member of Hawaii Shima Fukuoka Kenjinkai. An active volunteer with Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, she received the 2006 County of Hawaii “Outstanding Older American Award” and attended Community of Christ Church. Public memorial service at a later date.
